When I unpacked the tool, it turned out that it had already been used. The Teflon tape on the threads had torn off because someone had previously unscrewed the quick coupler. I tried 3 boots. Each tore at the thin end before the instrument was fully open. I tried to heat the trunk and was able to put a shoe on an axle. Tool does not expand enough to fit through Mercedes W123, 124, 107 or 126 axle constant velocity joints. I wanted to replace all 4 dust boots on two axles but the old cracked original boots are still better than the junk ones that came with it so I just replaced the cracked dust boot. There are 14 boots in the photo but only 12 boots were delivered. I bought some flexible boots and they work as expected with this tool. It's much better to just buy the tool and then order flexible boots.
