Pneumatic tools don't look forever

It's worth it. The dealer found my torn Cv boots and offered me $625 to replace them. This kit includes everything except the strapping tool which you will also need to order. The air tool doesn't look like it will last forever, but it has made it easier to stretch your boots and how many more times do you have to use it?

Enormous time savings! - Tools and equipment

Great tool! Saves man hours. The boots that came with it were the perfect size for my Yamaha Rhino. Local auto parts stores sell different sizes of wellies if you need a larger size. The set contains shoes in the smallest size offered by Dorman (Dorman 614-001) Dorman 614-001 HELP! Set of universal covers CV. This is great value for money, just the included boots, bands and lube sell for more than what I paid for the tool. The tool itself is massive and of high quality, the average user should…

Trunk slot before extension just enough to slip through CV joint

Bought to replace the outer CV joint boot on my 2008 Range Rover. I went through 7 boots provided before I could wear one, without it to tear. Once the boot was over the CV joint, I relieved the pressure, but the tool reached the bottom of the CV joint too soon. This means I had to try and move the shoe away from the watch by about 2.5 inches. Tore another shoe trying to do it. Eventually I removed the boot from the tool (try #10) and it was almost impossible to get the large diameter end back…

tool is ok. Waste boot

When I unpacked the tool, it turned out that it had already been used. The Teflon tape on the threads had torn off because someone had previously unscrewed the quick coupler. I tried 3 boots. Each tore at the thin end before the instrument was fully open. I tried to heat the trunk and was able to put a shoe on an axle. Tool does not expand enough to fit through Mercedes W123, 124, 107 or 126 axle constant velocity joints. I wanted to replace all 4 dust boots on two axles but the old cracked…

Please note that you have not received a previously used product.

First of all I very rarely write reviews but in this case I find it necessary to keep people honest. After paying about $200 for a NEW item, it turns out I received a previously used constant velocity boot air tool that was missing 2 constant velocity boots and was missing 2 packets of constant velocity joint grease (I didn't count the clamps). The air line plug that screws into the tool was still covered with teflon tape around the threads. I decided to keep the kit because I needed my car…

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • I won't say anything

The boots and clamps provided were fine but I had trouble with the tool. The knob on the instrument wasn't entirely reliable, working well at some volumes and sometimes not. The tool is used to widen the Dorman CV axle boots. After the tool expanded the boots I had trouble detaching the boots from the tool and in fact I didn't use the tool but a simple plastic cone to expand the boots and install them. Lubricate the fingers of the tools to keep the boots from slipping. Grease is not included…

  • Easy to use
