Review on Dorman 614 035 HELP Universal Boot by Tommy Hilmy

The boots and clamps provided were fine but I had trouble with the tool. The knob on the instrument wasn't entirely reliable, working well at some volumes and sometimes not. The tool is used to widen the Dorman CV axle boots. After the tool expanded the boots I had trouble detaching the boots from the tool and in fact I didn't use the tool but a simple plastic cone to expand the boots and install them. Lubricate the fingers of the tools to keep the boots from slipping. Grease is not included, no one sells it, and there is no part number for it that you can see in the pictures. So if you go to the counter at the auto parts store, they can't find it. I emailed Dorman and never got a reply regarding the lubrication. So I put the tool on the shelf to try another time. I also found out that maybe I wasn't using it properly. I installed the boots on the toes of the tools but I might have to fold the sleeve 1/2 and that would give the rubber sleeve less surface area to put on my toes. I'll try that next time.
