Review on FMHLGM278 50 Heavy-Duty Flathead Fastener by FastenMaster by Chuck Hernandez

Ride fast, strong, broad head gives them a firm grip. DO NOT LOSE the original disc bit!

I've had several different uses for these HeadLOK screws. One use was for trimming and another for stair repair. These screws worked well in both situations. I have a 10 foot x 5/4 x 6 inch bubinga transition board between a tiled kitchen floor and a carpeted living room. If you're not familiar with Bubinga, I've got the pieces: Reclaimed wood, over 40 years old, mostly Brazil nut, hard as stone, easy to work, but resistant to machine tools due to its high silica content. the bottom with standard screws because it's too thick and the bubinga always creaked and buckled. I tried pads and then floor levelers. Nothing helped. I then used these HeadLOK cleats to pull it down and they worked great. I didn't mind the steam punk look of the broad heads on the Bubinga - looks kinda cool (see photo) I pre-drilled the Bubinga under the HeadLOK studs - didn't want to split the 40 year old piece of hardwood. Another problem was the on-site built stairs to the basement. He's a stringer. The HeadLOK lags did a great job of bringing everything together. The only thing you need to know is that the "Spider Drive" beats needed to drive these delays cannot be replaced by any other beat on the planet. I have literally 200 bits of various sizes - Torx, Allen, Torx Security, 1-3 Squares, Phillips JIS and every other bit you can think of, but without the "Spider Drive" bit you are "unscrewed" - that does not go to control these bits. Shit, but these bits also work very reliably, better than torx. I see customers complaining about the missing drive bit in some reviews because I don't know of any replacements that I know of - if you know one let me know. Instead I used a 17mm Forstner bit to countersink the HeadLOK heads so they lay flat against the surface and for the first time in over 15 years the Bubinga adapter board does NOT flex or creak. Hope that helps!
