Installation was easy (pun intended). My rack is in an open and well-lit space, so I appreciate that the front-panel LCD screen only lights up when I touch the controls. I use "AUTO" and "SMART" mode depending on the activity. On my AV gear and gaming consoles, I use the SMART setting to reduce fan noise (fans run quieter at different speeds and times). When my sound system is on for movies, I use the AUTO setting (the fans only turn on when the temperature threshold is set, but can be quite loud). My only complaint would be the slight backlight for the controls. Currently I use a controllable LED built into the rack to see the keys without backlighting. Best of all, this thing does a really good job of expelling warm air from behind the gear tray. I used to have tempos up to the mid 80's (F). Now I can easily keep the temperature around 72 degrees. I'm not a fan of (another pun) price, but it's way cheaper than overheating my hardware.
