Returned the first board I bought after I had Computer, Arduino IDE settings, USB cables (in the past I have used all these cables to connect devices used) and tried loopback tests. Couldn't get my computer to recognize the device at all. I sent the board back and ordered two more to be on the safe side. New boards have arrived and I had the same problem with both. Device manager didn't find them, Arduino IDE couldn't see them after a few days of trying. Finally I rummaged through every corner to find another USB cable just to try it and it worked! I don't recall boards being this picky about the quality of USB cable used, but be warned! I recommend having another Arduino board (Uno, Nano, Every, etc.) on hand if you encounter connectivity issues to avoid the pitfalls I encountered.
