We have a very barking little dog that we tried a vibration only collar with last year. It worked at first, but after a while he seemed to get used to the vibration and kept barking when he wanted to. He likes to bark at anything that seems like nothing. In the spring, barking becomes incredibly annoying when we open the windows and he hears noises (voices, trucks, leaves, nothing). We saw one trainer say close the windows, put him in a kennel with blankets around a few sides to reduce stimulation and keep him on the radio. We didn't like doing that, so we tried to discourage his excessive barking a little more. A special feature of this collar is the adjustable sensitivity. The previous collar we had would sometimes kick off if it made a growling noise while playing. With this collar you can choose how sensitive it is so we can make it make a playful growl and even make softer, less aggressive barks on settings 1 or 2 OR we can make it more sensitive to its barks and noises by setting the increase sensitivity . (but we don't). We really only want to talk crazy people out of barking. A little warning bark or "what's that?" Barking is okay in our book. Like many other reviewers, I tested the shock first, but beware! In test mode, it does not emit the normal beep, vibrating beep, and then vibrating beep. This goes straight to BEEP VIBRATE SHOCK! I was caught off guard with my thumbs on the shocking pins but it was fine. static shock. We have found this collar to be very helpful in reducing barking throughout the day and I am very happy with the variety of settings!
