Review on Combi Bolt CB2000 CHR 4 Dial Combination Sliding by Jason Clemons

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very good buy suitable for latches and bolts

Bought a padlock to lock our liquor store now that we are in our teens. I didn't want a key lock as we either got lazy and left the key available or lost it or the kids will find it anyway. The code lock is much better. This lock is well made, quite large, works great. EASY TO INSTALL - Just install the double-sided screws first, then replace the single-sided screws once you have them in place. (Remove the screws one at a time and replace the double screw with the single screw until all six have been replaced.) There are three things to note. First, previous reviews that cited the possibility of an accidental combination reset as a defect are no longer valid. The company has fixed this problem. Accidental activation of the reset function is no longer possible. Second, the lock only works to secure a moving part (such as a door) that latches onto a fixed part (such as a frame or gatepost). I learned this the hard way when I bought a padlock to lock a wine cabinet that has two doors that converge in the middle and swing open, and I tried the deadbolt side of the lock on one of the doors and the to attach on the other side. to another door. Despite everything being correctly aligned, the lock would not hold when two doors were opened - the lateral movement of the swinging doors caused the lock bolt to slip out on the other side of the lock. Installing a simple slide bolt (available at any hardware store for $3) on the inside of one of the cabinet doors that secures the cabinet door to the cabinet frame. This has made one of the cabinet doors "fixed" and the other movable, and the combination lock works perfectly. This adds an extra step to the opening and closing process (you have to open the combination lock, open one of the doors and then reach in to unscrew the deadbolt before you can open the second door, on the contrary close it), but that's it OK. Third, in terms of design and chrome, the lock looks great, but it's big. It's a bit "much" for a wine cellar, but it's ok for us. For outdoor use etc it would be great.

Pros

Cons
