A car wash is a good step, but to really prepare the surface of the VRP finish and allow it to bond properly to the surface, you need to degrease it. That means take Walmart Super Cleaner, dilute it 2 to 1 and wipe the surface with microfiber until the dirt or grease is back on the cloth. If you don't, the VRP has nothing to hold on to except surface grease, and yes, it will drain with the water. We have rainstorms all the time here in Pennsylvania and not once have my properly prepared tires deviated or gone off VRP. On the other hand, my raw finish has started to shed in the rain.
