No instructions included but very easy to understand. Turn slightly clockwise when entering, counterclockwise when exiting. The edges of the core were smooth, with no notches. I used this for tiramisu cupcakes, which I drizzled with the espresso and kahlua mixture on the inside and then filled the holes in the center. The stoner left a perfectly sized hole where the mixture didn't soak the bottom and had enough room for the filling. Absolutely to recommend.
