This step is very solidly built. The step itself is metal, not plastic or composite, and has a non-slip surface. With the tailgate down, it's easy to step on without having to slip. The instructions were sufficient, but I think the following information might be helpful: 1. When installing the link to the mounting bracket, you may find that the head of the screw fits better with a 5/8" deep head. Also, I have added a split lock washer between the bolt head and the washer provided. This should help it not move backwards due to vibration. This is not necessary if you are using blue Loctite 242. I did it anyway. Bolt head.3. The tube with the red liquid is thread-locking liquid. Apply it to the threads of the screws before installing the screws. It is used to prevent screws from being backed out. I personally use Blue Locktite 242 on all the screws I lock It keeps them from coming back but is soft enough to remove the bolt later if needed in. An added benefit is that it protects the screw threads from corrosion so you can easily remove them if necessary. A small bottle (50 ml) lasts forever for normal use in the household business. I have a 2018 RAM 1500 Crew Cab and didn't use 1/4" spacers. Without them, the clearance from the bumper was about 3/4". I moved the step back a bit (3/4" or so) to be on the safe side to prevent the plastic end of the stage from getting hot from the exhaust pipe. It may not matter. Press with your hand or foot. If it fits, it is smooth and does not crack. It took about 40 minutes to install because I took my time and had to find my locktite and split lock washers. Hope this helps.
