Review on Think Dynarex Emergency Response Blanket by David Fields

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great emergency blankets at a reasonable price.

I started a blanket fundraiser for the homeless. I live in DC and it's been a cold year. My house doesn't have heating, but at least I have a roof. I couldn't imagine how dangerous those who don't even have a roof are and I really wanted to do something. Mylar blankets are a useful and inexpensive way for people like me who can't afford big gestures to help in small ways. I ended up getting donations that enabled me to order thousands of these blankets. I have used several companies and the Thank Safe packaging and labeling was my favorite. The small, lightweight packaging made it easy for me and other people to carry them in backpacks and take them outside and to people at campsites. The feedback we got from the homeless was that they really make a difference and resist tearing really well. The only problem is that if pierced with something sharp, they will continue to tear quickly. However, tugging, pulling and squeezing did not harm them. They are reusable. For the full effect of keeping warm, wrap yourself in a blanket and then sit or lie down. The resulting air pockets heat up and are thrown back. If they're pressed too hard directly against the skin, they retain less heat. Their wind and rain protection is also very useful. One person told me that he used a blanket to spread out his tent where there was a hole. It was very good and stayed dry.

Pros
  • Waterproof and windproof for bad weather
Cons
  • Exorbitant piggy bank
