MAYBE IT SHOULD GIVE 5 OR 4.5 STARS because my jack saddle, a very cheap port freight model, may be a bit generous (in this case too low) manufacturing tolerances! If so, we at Auto Body Now apologize for lowering your 5 STAR RATING! I LOVE the adapter/guard; I've used it before and it works, although my Jack saddle is a bit small. The tread compound compresses and flexes just enough to accommodate and continue to function safely! If you look at the running surface of the rail you can see that the final dimensions are accurate and intentional. Is it some kind of special rubber compound that maybe comes from modern bushing materials? It has well-defined ridges, slits, and grooves, giving it the appearance of being machined rather than cast. It also has .040" wide grooves (40 thousandths) instead of the .047" wide grooves on some other adapters/protectors. This makes it difficult to dock to the (compressed) guide frame, but provides a very secure fit! (Hint: are all modern cars going to scissor jacks? In terms of maintenance, they can be a real hassle!) That's it! The only trick to all of this is making sure the cross slots sit where they should be on your car's indexed frame section. Check the user manual. Sorry for the wordy review, but I bought another product that was made for a smaller ground socket (my mistake) and this product's transverse slot (0.047 inch) seemed too wide for my wary old man. I have only used this once but as mentioned above this product works!
