I really didn't want to spend money on this tool as it doesn't get used much. HOWEVER - Compared to the much cheaper versions available, the OTC 6697 is engineered to properly seat the Powerstroke shaft seal at the correct depth for the vacuum powered 4WD automatic hubs to work. Cheaper versions vary widely in seat depth and axle shaft port circumference, affecting proper gasket seating and likely requiring disassembly again to repair (and could potentially let you out of 4WD if necessary). It's better to spend a few extra dollars for the right tool than to do the job twice or ruin an $80 print!
