Spend your money and get this axle seal tool.

The first impression is very good. Packaged in a large styrofoam box that doubles as a storage box when I'm done. Fits perfectly in steering knuckle and axle for drivetrain seal. I bought a cheaper version of the same tool but it didn't meet specs and got stuck in the joint. An hour of knocking and watching got him free and now I'm bringing him back. Spend an extra $25-30 and get something that actually works as intended. You definitely get what you pay for.

Pros
  • beautiful thing
Cons
  • crumpled packaging

The right tool to install the Powerstroke Axel Seal.

I really didn't want to spend money on this tool as it doesn't get used much. HOWEVER - Compared to the much cheaper versions available, the OTC 6697 is engineered to properly seat the Powerstroke shaft seal at the correct depth for the vacuum powered 4WD automatic hubs to work. Cheaper versions vary widely in seat depth and axle shaft port circumference, affecting proper gasket seating and likely requiring disassembly again to repair (and could potentially let you out of 4WD if necessary)…

  • Weight
Cons
  • Hard to say

Buy it, you won't regret after first use

This thing worked great and is worth every penny to make sure the gasket is installed properly (and undamaged) on the axle and spindle. . It comes in a large foam case to prevent damage in transit and is the perfect storage case to keep your instrument in good condition for years to come. It's also covered in anti-corrosion oil which I wiped off with brake cleaner so I could use it without slipping out of my hands, but I re-oiled it lightly with bearing oil as I'm not sure when I'll be using it

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
