I've seen this work for regular drip coffee or French Press. Grinding is just not acceptable for espresso. That's not very good and not even very good. I ran it on the best settings and took two shots. The first shot was fired in a big way. The second was slightly better, but both extracted quickly, were watery, and almost no foam. My knife grinder produces a more consistent grind and makes much better espresso, and the manual for it even says NOT to use it for espresso (which is why I use a burr grinder). I could see that a pressurized portafilter could be used with this grind size with some success, but I use a non-pressurized filter so that doesn't help me much. Other complaints are that it's noisy and takes a long time to grind at these settings. I haven't tried any other settings as I only drink espresso. The hopper is big and I was looking forward to storing grains in it and grinding them as needed, but at this speed and DB level I don't think I'd want to do this every day! Sounds like a saber saw. The only thing it has is a sleek look, which was a big factor in why I bought it. I don't like the way most grinder gadgets look and this one looked great next to my black Gaggia Classic Pro but sadly it wasn't meant to be.
