They are very strong and only took a minute to assemble. Can't comment on how well they hold up on the outside but the quality is way better than what I expected for the price. I actually bought it to sort laundry in a creative way. I bought three of these debris shelters and some cloth liners from Revain for $7. I tuck the liners into the lid so the weight of my husband's jeans won't drop the liner in the bin. The top opening hatch is perfect for my kids as it keeps everything in place during their clumsy sorting. I no longer have to fish out the basket lining from under a pile of dirty underwear. Hooray! This makes this design the perfect laundry basket for any mom (especially those with light incontinence). Conventional laundry baskets do not have this function because they are not designed that way. And with a stylish design, no one will know they are actually trash cans! Everyone who has seen them is delighted! This idea is cheaper than most full-size "heavy-duty" laundry baskets and much better as you can snap the liner in and only pull it out when it's full, and still have access to load clothes via the top hatch. That's great. I used my label maker and made simple dark, white and color labels. If your kids are new to reading, order different colored inserts or ribbons to differentiate each basket and make sorting easier.
