Review on 🍳 Pre-Seasoned Lodge Carbon Steel Skillet, 12-inch - Enhance Cooking Experience with High-Quality Skillet by Stephanie Wilson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Rough on arrival. After 2 hours, sandpaper is cleaner than snot.

Cheap $20.69. I thought the price was a mistake and it turned out to be correct as it had increased in the days since purchase. I bought the 10 inch size to use primarily on a charcoal grill. When I'm cooking on the grill, I prefer to do everything to eat on it. Meat, potatoes, vegetables, everything you can. I used it on herb potatoes last night with great success. In any case, this pan has a rough as hell texture. I expected that based on other reviews. For comparison I have a blue steel pancake pan from DeBuyer which is very smooth and very slippery. Well I decided I didn't want to wait for this pan to be smooth in use. So I decided to put some fat on this pan to smooth the cooking surface. I spent two hours wet sanding. I started with 180 grit and gradually worked my way up to 600 grit and ended up with 00 steel wool. In doing so I found that the steel used in this pot is slightly inferior to my DeBuyer. It has a certain porosity that only showed up after I sanded it for a while. However, the spice fills it up and gives it something to hold on to. So it's not a minus in itself. Just tell me it's not as high quality as my steel french pan. But the price reflects this. After I finished sanding and buffing and seasoned a few rounds on my big gas torch it was very smooth and works great. Super slippery. The only thing I would like is an enameled handle. I just have to keep the pen seasoned. So 4 stars. 1/2 star deduction for missing grip finish and rough texture on arrival.
