Review on πŸ”§ Chrome SharkBite 25558LF 1/2-Inch x 3/8-Inch Dual Compression Outlet Stop Valve with 1/2" Push-to-Connect and 3/8" Dimensions by Christopher Penn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I love shark bites but I had a little problem with this one.

OK so I used it for my under kitchen sink hot end valve. Upon arrival I noticed that the main exhaust was wide open and had a brass bushing with an 8mm hex hole (more on that in a moment). Then I looked into the other exit and saw a brass sleeve that had a window that was cut through to let water through, but it was half blocked so water would have been very limited. I used an 8mm allen wrench to turn the brass bushing through the main hole until the window lined up perfectly with the other hole. I thought everything was fine until I installed it, turned off the valve, turned on the main and noticed that the 1/4 turn lever no longer shut off the water completely. Just a dripper but still not 100% like the other single outlet shark stitch I used for the cold side (which I didn't use with the brass bushing as it wasn't used as there is no other outlet to go around aligning it in a row) . These photos might look a bit confusing but basically show a blocked port in another outlet with a head hole and the last flash picture looks confusing but that's after I pierced it with a 5/16 bit and the square one hole has become factory. a window in the sleeve, but it is facing the wrong way at the bottom of the tube, which is what caused the clog. Now that I've tightened the bushing and drilled the hole, it has full flow and doesn't drip when closed. In short, when using this type of fitting, don't twist the brass bushing. Instead, just take a drill and a 5/16 bit that fits the blocked hole and drill through. Provides full water flow and stays sealed when closed.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Available for replacement
