I bought this unit for my father to install his gas wood burning fireplace as the chimney required about $5000 worth of internal repairs and was not considered safe by a company considered for wood burning was cleaned. One more thing I would like to highlight as a security issue. It's a plug box and draws a level of current that I wouldn't put into a circuit that has a bunch of other stuff and ABSOLUTELY NO EXTENSION CORDES! With something like that, you just ask for real fire. In this case I had run a special circuit for this. Luckily I have a very sensible electrician to rely on, or if you're an expert in the field, do it yourself. Remote control issues aside, he's enthusiastic about the unit and doesn't miss firewood at all carry to the fireplace! I'll update this once I finally get in touch with the company and depending on the response this rating may go up or down. UPDATE: I added this late but I finally got through on the phone and they sent me a new remote. Problem solved, range improved.
