Review on Dogit Voyageur Model 100: The Ultimate Dog Carrier for Convenient Travel by April Smith

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Decent but false growth.

Received this carrier quickly and in the condition promised. However, the height is not suitable for this "very large" medium. He describes it as 27 inches tall, when in fact it's about 17 inches tall (must be a typo). Because of this I had to buy another one from petco at the last minute for way more than I wanted to spend. But now that I had two, it was easy to compare the design. I will say right away that if you are looking for a shared carrier for taking your pet to the vet, sleeping in the car, at home etc - there is nothing wrong with that, especially for the price. Easy assembly, stable handle, gate stays closed. However, if you plan to travel by plane, you need to read on to draw your own conclusions. This carrier is a bit flimsy, partly due to the fact that it is VERY well ventilated. The entire top and bottom have vents all around - you usually only see that at the top. If you're concerned about ventilation because you have a snub-nosed pet, consider this carrier. Another thing that makes it fragile is that it has 3 latches on the sides and back which are made of plastic. There are no screws or bolts - although there are 6 top and bottom holes for that if you have them at home. I have used zips through all openings and felt much more comfortable being able to carry my pet in it without breaking it apart - I think without zips the side clips will quickly open or break, especially if you have a pet that is over 10 kg weighs . Another downside is that there is a small area at the top that you can put your hand through to pet your pet, but after opening it three times the clip stopped snagging and it popped open when empty been carried, let alone the pet. Inside. I also zipped it. I read a review of this brand of "medium" tote bags and they said they used them on an airplane - with zippers in the holes (hence my idea of doing the same). They said he's holding up well, so he might as well. I won't be using this on an airplane as it's not big enough for my pet and after comparing it to the MUCH more durable one I bought from petco I'm much more comfortable using the petco for a trip from California to New use York. we will do that. I hope I could be of some help - I was very disappointed that there were almost no reviews for this stretcher, but there were so many reports of its sale. just my 2 cents.
