This article is not a universal nutcracker. It actually does poorly as an all-purpose nut/shellfish cracker. This is a very good pecan shell. If you remove the plastic protection, you can also shell the walnut (although with a thicker shell, this is a little less elegant and more explosive than the clean cut you get with a pecan). If shelling whole pecans is an activity that you should have a special tool in your life for, then it might not be a bad thing. If you're looking for a quality, all-purpose nut/crust cracker, this isn't it.
