Review on 🔍 Kohler 52 050 02-S Extra Capacity Engine Oil Filter for CH11 - CH15, CV11 - CV22, M18 - M20, MV16 - MV20, and K582 (Pack) by Tyler Cash

I have a 20hp Simplicity Prestige hydraulic tractor that uses a Kohler Command CV20S engine. The Kohler engine manual for this model specifies the use of a standard 2 .75" black filter (Kohler part # 12 050 01-S). However, a while back my local Simplicity dealer recommended I swap my filter to a 3.5" yellow PRO Performance premium filter (Kohler No. 52-050-02-S) as the price difference between it and the standard filter is negligible.Aside from the fact that the two filters are different in color (e.g. yellow and black), the only difference between the two is Filters their length which gives the yellow a little more capacity and presumably a little longer filter life so you can get a lot of overtime between oil changes means the oil stays outside the engine (i.e. cools) longer, plus more filter media so it can catch more dirt and still be at full capacity. I've been told that if your equipment is used lightly, even moderately, and you change the filter along with the oil every year or season of use, you're probably fine with a black filter even if your Kohler engine has failed. with yellow. However, since the price difference between the two filters is minimal, I just prefer the larger filter...even though I don't typically spend more than 50 hours on my tractor between annual oil changes. Another thing I particularly like about this filter. The yellow color of the filter allows me to use a black marker to write the date and time of the filter change and still see that information, whereas with a black filter I obviously can't. I have found that the extra capacity of this filter offers excellent overall value and I will definitely continue to purchase it for use on my tractor. I especially like that I can get this filter from Revain in a 3-pack, which makes it even more economical for me.
