Let me say first: I'm quite a practical person. I have installed all interior and exterior door handles/fixtures in and on my house. I even installed a ceiling fan myself without killing myself. Among other useful things. However, I do know how to deal with the odd crooked ball when it comes to installation. I was in charge. I counted all the details and made sure they were in place before starting the process. Now, after 15-20 minutes of work. It's been 2 hours for me, a new hole in my door and my old doorknob is back. You probably think I did something wrong. Oh how I wish it was my fault. I would be less angry with myself than with her. i love me more than her Especially now. I'm done with this project. I was installing the handle when I realized something was wrong. A Viper at the factory managed to jam the hex bolt in the handle mechanism, so Hercules himself couldn't help me. And this thing has to be removed from the internal mechanism before you can attach the handle. I used the supplied allen wrench, I used my own stronger allen wrench, I used a torx wrench when they removed the screw, 3 youtube articles/videos on stripped screw removal, WD-40, hammer, torx Screwdrivers, practice, and maybe tears and bad words later, and I'm finally admitting defeat. I really wonder if some idiot put that thing in there as a joke. I thought about using the innards from my old door, but unfortunately 1) there was a reason I replaced it and 2) it's a completely different type of mechanism because there was a handle inside instead of a lever. I give. I'm angry and my arm hurts but I keep going. The rest of the mount was nice, easy to assemble, and I was particularly excited about the Microban cover during the pandemic. I'm taking off 2 stars because it eventually broke. Update: I bought a stripped screw/bolt removal kit and got it completely done. The handle is installed, but the hex bolt is a bit unreliable because the threads were stripped when I pulled it out by hand. I used some tape and drilled a hole on the handle itself a little larger to accommodate it. Disappointed but I got my win.
