I got tired of using the hood stay on my 2008 Bullitt. There has been a lot of talk about different car shapes, as well as YouTube videos discussing the different brands of these hood pillars. I evaluated buoyancy versus strut placement. Depending on the brand, some spacers will attach closer to the firewall than others and some will require a hole to be drilled. I wanted the bolt ton to not be able to make extra holes and be strong enough to lift the hood unsupported. Most of these spacers require you to lift the hood about 30cm to get the pistons where they can apply force to start the lifting process. There's a lot of pressure in these pistons, so don't be fooled into thinking they're broken if you can squeeze them by hand. Once placed on the hood you will see that the pistons will begin to compress after expansion as you gently push down to close well. Gap issues on the hood, either side to side or top to bottom. Everything fits very well. My car has a fiberglass hood which I've heard is actually heavier than standard hoods. This brand of racks specifically states that they will work with aftermarket fiberglass hoods. So that was one aspect that sealed the deal I chose. Ease of installation.
