I returned the 1st order because the clip was broken, the center pin was snapped on 2, the letter was cracked and the specs on one of the 4 rails were wrong. enough that it doesn't fit in the connection component. The replacement box had a cracked letter (also the same letter) and the same problem with just one of the guides. This time I used pliers to adjust the splint to make it usable. After solving these problems the tool became easy to use and I created 4 characters with a 2.5 inch letter. There are a few letters that you might need practice on, but overall this is a good setup.
