This is better than the average knife, but not the most expensive or exotic. It is made of beautiful German carbon steel which takes a good sharpening but needs to be hand washed and dried as it will rust in the dishwasher. (Not that you should wash a good knife in the dishwasher. The really cool thing about this knife is how the blade fits into the handle so there are no real seams to corrode, split or loosen the knife.
