Strange clogging/peeling

I was initially happy to get a permanent replacement for the plastic ice trays I used to have, but over time they are breaking and needing to be replaced. I followed the instructions that came with them - dipping the new silicone bowls in boiling water for a few minutes before using them for the first time and filling them about three quarters full after they cooled - however the result was very disappointing. First, the ice cubes were difficult to remove; twisting the tray and even bending it back or trying to knock the cubes out by pushing them from behind, most of them clinging to the material, stuck to it tightly. Worse, after finally pouring them into my drink, I noticed large white flakes floating in my glass. I did a quick experiment to test this by pouring a fresh glass of water - not granola. I added an ice cube. from my old plastic bowl of filtered water and unfiltered tap water - no flakes. I added an ice cube from a new silicone tray and . The flakes appeared immediately when I threw it in water, filtered or not. I don't know what they are, but the ones that stick to the inside of the glass need to be scraped off and they don't dissipate or deteriorate over time. If I had to describe their appearance, it would be like little snow-covered pieces of orange pulp. Maybe I'm not using the product properly, but . I don't see what I could be doing wrong. This is an ice tray. I add water, put it in the freezer and it turns into ice. It's the only ice that makes weird pulpy flakes in all my drinks.
