I raise kittens and when our rescuers have litters of similar kittens it's very easy to tell them apart. We cut them long enough to allow them to stretch out as the kittens grow. Yes, some kittens will take them off for rough play, but they are safer than kitty collars if they can get their paws or head caught in crevices or hold on to something. Nothing of what with what. And no bells to distract you when you're in bed, and kittens are little night owls frolicking around after midnight. There are times when they lose their sticky stickiness if left on the kitty for a while, so new ones need to be provided. Overall, they were very helpful in our rescue.
