I have tested two of these and none passed the simple sun test. Put on your helmet and look out into the bright sunlight. Lenses should be tinted and remain dark to protect your eyes. Instead, the lens blinks and then turns off. I checked the battery in the first one and it was already dead (3V instead of 3.3V in the new one) so I swapped it out and the behavior was still the same. Even assuming that the welder might be brighter (not always), or that the light variation is somehow used to decide whether to stay dark, I'm not sure I would trust him with my vision. The adjustment knobs were all frozen but eventually broke. However, you will not turn around without catching. In contrast to my good helmet, which has a battery compartment on the inside on the back of the outside stick so that you can remove the battery if you don't use it for a long time, this one has a battery in the filter module. You have to remove the entire solar/filter panel (a pain) to get to the battery.
