I'm not sure what other people do to break them.
I've been using these for over a year and I've never broken them. At the same time, they don't last as long as the official brand, but honestly that's a good thing. You shouldn't use them for more than a few weeks as the bacteria will start settling in your sponge. So overall good value for money.
