Bracket mounting review and suggestions - good product

My daughter bought this bracket to hang a 65 inch, 50 lb LG TV and of course asked if I could use it could mount on the wall and then Install the TV. The mount came well packaged with instructions, an insane amount of mounting screws, 4 bolts, a small spirit level and a mounting template. The instructions were very general but easy to follow. There is plastic packaging with compartments for many screws. First of all, you need to know where the studs are in the wall. I wouldn't recommend mounting it to the wall in any way other than studs. Of course, the studs this was mounted on were wider than 16" in the middle, so I had to mount two 2x4 pieces of wood to the wall and attach them with 3" screws. (2x4 is 1 ยฝ" thick, drywall is 1/2" thick for a total of 2". Then the 3" screws go into the studs per inch). Installation Notice. Two metal brackets are attached vertically to the back of the TV. which can be adjusted up and/or down. With this TV they couldn't adjust downwards due to the shape of the bottom of the TV as it flexed. The mount has a movable clip that extends to the bottom of the TV. This clip attaches to the bottom bar that attaches to the wall bracket to give you an idea of the height of the TV once installed to help you where the bracket should be placed. After installing the 2x4 I centered the TV where it should be. installed and then used the template to find the location of the screws. One of the nice things about the jig is that it has tape on both sides so it stays in place when looking for bolt holes. I pre-drilled the holes according to the template provided to make it easier to assemble the joists. I also bought shorter and slightly thicker bolts to attach the bracket to the 2x4 with my ratchet kit. Make sure the pattern lines up! After pre-drilling the holes, remove the mounting template (save it) and install the main bracket with 4 tabs and washers using my ratchet kit. Note. Make sure the correct side is up. My mount had an arrow pointing up. After fixing, install the horizontal metal brackets or brackets on the bracket. They consist of two parts and penetrate the bracket in the specified area. Use a screw to secure it. Installation note 2. There are many screws, washers and gaskets in the compartments marked with letters or numbers. The mount comes with way more screws and hardware than you need. Just follow the instructions. For example, the instructions specified three sets of screws and various spacers to attach the vertical brackets to the TV. I only needed the last listed screws with no spacers. In other words, one of these devices should work with your TV, since all TVs are different. Mounting Check - Before installing the TV, after installing the bracket, pull the mounting brackets forward and pull to make sure they are secure. . Again, I wouldn't install this without bolts. Two people are required to assemble the TV. Lift the TV and attach the top support and then the bottom support. While a second person holds the TV, twist the metal clip onto the bottom bar and attach it to the TV. This will prevent the TV from coming loose after installation. After installation, the TV can be moved away from the wall, turned left or right and tilted down. There are many adjustments if the TV is not level. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. The bracket is very strong and well made. Installation wasn't difficult, but required the appropriate tools. It's also easy to set up. Took me about an hour to install it and hang up the TV. Now that I've done it I'd say it can be installed in 30 minutes or less if you know where the studs are. Items needed for installation: Electric drill and bits (pre-drilled holes), Phillips screwdriver. (Attach the vertical brackets to the TV by hand!), ratchet kit (adjusting the delays), flashlight (the last few screws to attach the brackets to the TV so you can see what you're doing), bubble level (my own, though one was available), pencil and patience! You need a second person to hang and install the TV. You'll need a spike finder to find the studs if you don't have one. You can buy a very cheap one at the hardware store, or look for studs through visible nail or screw holes, or drill many small holes in the wall to find studs!
