
I was able to program both boards using the "(Old Bootloader)" option in the Arduino software. However, one board had intermittent issues with USB. You can see in my screenshot that a real USB device communication fails with a simple handle request. It actually looks like a hardware problem. The other board seemed to work fine even when plugged/unplugged/plugged back in. The bad board was ALREADY able to talk at least once, I was able to send her a blink sketch. But it was a very unreliable connection. 50% success in quality - and that's when a good board lasts :P
