Review on Instant Ocean BIO-Spira 100mL: Safeguard Your Marine Aquarium with Ease by Tamara Allen

works like a boss in Fish & Aquatic Pets

Short Story: It worked as advertised (mostly: wait 2-3 days, not right away) Long Story(s): Added to reconfigured marine aquarium after one cycle for a week of rocks (Marco rocks, dry started) with lively sandy bottom. Checked every day for a week and the ammonia was fairly constant at 0.5-1ppm. A week later (and before the addition) the ammonia levels were still relatively high (0.5 to 1 ppm), nitrite was just starting to rise but hardly any nitrate (0.25 ppm) was undetectable. Ammonia is about the same. The next morning, when tested again with the API Marine Primary Test Kit (0 ppm), no ammonia was detected. The nitrites went very high (anywhere between 2-5ppm, hard to get color differences on the test kit). A day later (on the 3rd morning after the addition) the ammonia is still showing 0 ppm and the nitrite has dropped to 0.25 ppm. Nitrates are now showing 10ppm, compared to previously undetectable. Basically the product works like a boss - it completed the cycle in 2-3 days (ammonia --> 0, nitrite spike, then nitrite --> low, nitrate high). I will continue testing to see if there are any other discrepancies. The two clownfish are currently living (happily, apparently) in an aquarium that was installed just over a week ago. Other Specs: 18-gallon hex tank with 10-gallon sump, 2-inch deep live sand pad, added 25 pounds of dry rock. Make sure you already have some ammonia and some nitrate in your tank to feed the bacteria or I guess you'll be wasting your time and money.
