So when I received it, the thermometer at the bottom was broken; However, due to an easily replaceable part, I had no need to return it - the pot has a small dent, but it's on top and still stands right - everything else is checked correctly and "dent" is free xD for beginners I'm just admitting three stars because no instructions are included - if you want to try this you'll need to get the basic candle making instructions elsewhere in advance. Overall this is a good buy for making small candles. I'd say 8-12 ounces of candle wax is the limit I would use for this jar - the handle does get a little warm, but safety is always good practice to practice beforehand - I haven't used dyes yet, hence I can't speak truthfully on this topic - overall it's a good trail for beginners and then I'll move on to something more advanced :) candle making safety and tips on temperature and smell of wax/candle making *** my bad ** *lol
