The neck is fairly well built and strong. The ends are covered with thick rubber to protect the paint/bike. I wish it had a spring for retracting and cocking, but I wouldn't deduct a star for that. I'm giving 2 stars because I don't know what kind of bike would fit. It was too long to ride an adult female mountain/trekking bike and barely fit my mountain bike when fully closed. If it could be shortened by a few inches it would be perfect. The sizing information in two places in the description is confusing. Correct dimensions: (max 32.25" min 23") between hooks NOT (30.32" min 21.25") where a later one would be fine. Maybe add a more voluminous drawing so as not to waste someone else's time. Or just make it a little shorter, like Allen's version.
