Review on Denso 234 9002 Fuel Ratio Sensor by Shima Hennigan

98% of the time it is a bad air/fuel sensor

Just what I needed and at a lower price than the usual options. Installation took literally 20 minutes, I did it during my lunch break at work. If you have P1135 CEL activated, 98% of the time it will be a bad air/fuel sensor! To make installation a little easier, unplug the connector from the tab. This gives you more space to disconnect the sensor cable. Be sure to use the new gasket that comes with this new part. Also pay attention to which side the seal was mounted on, the seal has two sides. I was surprised that the two 10mm screws holding the Señor were loosened almost to my fingers! There is no rust anywhere under my 4Runner, I was lucky here. But if you find those two 10mm rusty, don't worry about the screws. Take WD-40 Rust Remover Spray and wait 5-10 minutes after spraying for rusty bolts! If you've driven with the P1135 CEL on for a while, it's a good idea to change your spark plugs as well. This job literally takes 30 minutes and pays for itself in improved fuel economy per gallon and throttle response. Oh, I almost forgot to remove the air mass meter and spray it with CRC air mass meter cleaner. It also helps with MPG and throttle response. Before all that sensor cleaning and A/F sensor replacement, I was getting 13mpg (2.7L/AT) and driving like a grandma! Now I can immediately see the difference in responsiveness and better MPG. I don't have an exact mpg yet as I did all this when I was half tank full. I hope to see 1618 mpg!

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Reliability
