I wanted this to track bad insulation and I was sure it would have other uses, I don't use it to track animals in the dark. I'm not sure if this will have enough reach for people who want to do this. But no problem seeing hot and cold spots on my roof from 50 feet away. This is my first imaging camera and although I've read a lot about it I'm still new to using it. And it doesn't feel like anything I've had before, either, so I don't have personal experience of features I liked or didn't like. I've read that the higher resolution of 320x240 shows detail, reducing the need for a function that blends the visible light image with the IR image. This camera has such a feature, but I rarely use it. It works but I found I got all the parts I needed without it. I'm happy with the spec and the documentation that comes with it is adequate, but I wish I had more detailed specs before I buy it. . When I looked at the box from the outside, the shortest focal length was listed as 2 meters for this device and 0.5 meters for the HT-18. That bothered me, but I found I had no problem distinguishing detail at half a meter, so there's no problem here. Fantastic new toy that has already come in handy so I'm happy with 5 stars. I only gave it 4 stars because although I plan to get better at it, I haven't done it yet. It has some features that others have complained about in other reviews. does not record video; that doesn't seem to be a problem to me. If that were the case, it would require more storage space, and then it would cost more. I've seen complaints about the key sequence used to save an image, but I really don't have a problem with it. If I knew more, maybe I would.
