Review on DuPont Tyvek HomeWrap ๐Ÿก - 3 Feet by 100 Feet by Carnell Bollwitt

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Tyvek didn't impress me

I have never used Tyvek and quickly learned many reasons why it is inferior to 30lb bituminous paper. You need to understand that special nails and staples must be used, otherwise Tyvek makes no sense. It doesn't seal around the nail/staple like it does. Additionally, Tyvek can create a condensation barrier that accelerates the growth of rot and mold in multi-layer materials (substrate and cladding). Tyvek is very thin and extensive research has shown that it can wear out faster than is acceptable, with some reporting significant wear within 10-15 years. Anyway, I didn't use it.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Some flaws
