Had a seam on my resonator for my tundra. I gently brushed the area with a wire brush, being careful to remove loose scale and rust and making enough cuts in the surface to allow the putty to set. I applied it first with one of those bondo applicators and pressed the putty into the seam and then applied another coat to even out the difference in finish. After it sat for 10 minutes, I started the engine and let it run for 15 minutes. After all this I left the truck for 2 days before clearing the code and driving it. It's been a week now and the repair is still tight (start on a cold day and watch the condensed vapor (steam)).
