Bought these pumpkin carving tools. After looking at many reviews of different tools, it seemed that none of them would work, so I took the cheapest ones possible - just in case they didn't work. As other reviewers have said, they can't cut squash so I had to sharpen them. Once sharpened, they worked pretty well. I didn't try subtractive sculpting, just shaved off a thin layer to shape my image. Even after a few rinses in the dishwasher, the metal still adheres well to the wood.
