Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Efficiently Handle Bike Chain Links with Park Tool's MLP-1.2 Master Link Pliers by Marcus Hargrave

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Another well made and useful parking tool in my collection

I'm not a fan of chain links on race chains but that seems to be the trend, at least for Shimano Ultegra 11 speed chains. I'm old school and have replaced hundreds of chains "in my day" as a bike dealer and race support mechanic. I've just started riding 11 gears on a Cannondale SuperSix Evo that I bought in late 2018 as a training bike to replace an old Giant TCL that was discontinued with a road bike. I always have spare chains but they are all 10 speed so recently I had to buy a replacement for a Cannondale. This tool made using the main link fairly easy - much less so than trying to install it without the ML tool, which is what I tried. Plus, the tool looks great in my bike tool box! It's not cheap, but it's also not very expensive for a quality instrument, so I was happy to spend the money. There are cheaper fakes out there but I have enough park tools to believe that they are generally high quality and will last a long time.

Pros
  • Bike Tools and Maintenance
Cons
  • Expensive
