The filter housing fittings are good, reliable, high quality. The problem is with the cartridge itself. Followed the setup instructions and everything and then evaluated the resulting water. Please note that our tap water was about typical, perhaps above average, hardly presenting a cleaning problem. We expect a minimum of 80-90% removal of chlorine, fluorine etc. Here are the relevant numbers in our tests: . Output of free chlorine, 1.2 ppm. Removal of about 15%. Fluorine in, 0.7 mg per liter. Fluorine is absent, about 0.5 mg per liter. Distance, I have about 30% more, but the fact of the matter is that chlorine, chloramine and fluoride were the problems we wanted to solve. It turns out that in such a multifunctional filter you get a bit of everything, but not enough of most. Fluorine is very difficult to remove and a half or less activated alumina filter will not perform well at the flow rate that the filter will provide. However, the chlorine broke my heart. It's possible that the material in the filter was damaged in transit, but as the cartridge is opaque you can't see this and that in itself is a big problem. Anyway, a hundred bucks for the project, and with the water not bad at all, the filtered product smelled of chlorine. Unacceptable in our book. The device is not NSF certified and they defend this by saying the ingredients are there but not enough. wouldn't pass if they tried. Shame - the accommodation is good and they are nice people and their tech support is responsive. I wish I could give more stars - BUT - it really should WORK.
