on the second picture it's dark blue I'm excited about two new kits at the same time and they often have different opinions on pH even though they were calibrated at the same time using the same solution. For this reason I kept them both; to see how they maintain their accuracy and function. Also, I can use it for travel. Normally, the readings settle down to very similar values after a few seconds or a minute. It's close enough for what I do. Reads water accurately. I tried lemon juice. Basically I test distilled water, yes, to make sure my burner hasn't gone mad again, derailed again. The first thing I had to do was replace the batteries but they came with new ones so it wasn't a big deal. Calibration was easy, you just have to follow the instructions.
