Great set for the price. Good steel and nice feel.

Haven't used them yet but I really like them. I wanted a full set of Narex chisels but didn't have the money and these were available at a VERY reasonable price. The packaging was opened, but there were no signs of wear on any of the chisel parts. They looked as if they had never been touched by human hands. This now also includes the fact that I was able to recognize traces of the automated manufacturing process. They weren't really sharp, but before I could sharpen them properly I needed a 1/4" chisel (that was the main reason I bought them; I already have a couple of wider chisels) and I used it for his intended purpose. Came from the factory and everything worked perfectly. Not as smooth as after I cleaned them, but it worked. It took about an hour and a half to smooth the backs (remove all machining marks) and sand down to 400 grit and do the same on the main bevel. I still have to do my microbevels and polish the microbevels and backs but considering how well the steel has held up to my efforts I would say they are decent steel and pretty good for the normal price and surprisingly good for that, what I paid should hold a sharp edge. I'll update my review if that doesn't turn out to be UPDATE ONE YEAR LATER: I'm very happy with it I've abandoned my plans to buy Narex and my plans to make my own out of the wonderful D4 tool steel I have , postponed indefinitely because they were just wonderful. I even cut holes in the bamboo base for three heating elements. This material is hard and abrasive at the same time, but I was still able to get a decent curl in the hardwood right after. If lost or stolen, I would buy it again at any time. Honestly it seems like I stole them as I paid less than $10 and received over $100 in value.

Pros
  • Wood chisel
Cons
  • Not as thick as other pickaxes
