Review on Meguiars G17220 Ultimate Compound Fluid_Ounces by Mike Stevenson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Oxidized matte finish to a shiny almost new look

I have neglected my 2000 Ford Ranger (White) for over 5 years sitting outside in the Florida sun and rain. The truck was green with mold. which had to be brushed off. There was no sheen on the surface, and the water instantly wetted the entire surface without a single drop. I bought Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax after watching youtube videos about the differences between Mequiar's Ultimate Compound and the old brand TW. The results are amazing. I literally followed the instructions with the HF DA and worked 2m². feet at once. The finish immediately improved with Ultimate Compound (3-4 overlaps). The finish was smooth and shiny but not very smooth until I used the Ultimate polish (3-4 overlapping passes). You can really feel the difference in the finish after applying the Ultimate polish, and the color gets richer and deeper. The varnish must be wiped off immediately, do not let it dry on the surface, it is difficult to remove. Dampening it with water mist helps if you don't remove it before it dries. The Ultimate wax is unique and doesn't really leave a 'white haze' and you wonder if you've waxed that area or not, but the beach ball is just as good as any other wax. This lack of white haze is nice because it doesn't whiten your rubber finish like other traditional waxes do. 20 ounces of Ultimate Compound and Polish covered my Ranger and Volvo. The weight of the wax was 16 ounces and it took me a few more ounces to finish the second machine. Overall, the three-tier Mequiar system is a bit more expensive, but worth every penny.
