Review on Nikon Monarch FIELDSCOPE 82ED-A with MEP-20-60 Zoom Eyepiece, Black by Brandi Walker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Jovian stripes are visible

I upgraded an old Bushnell that I've had for years so I was expecting a big leap in quality from this one. Compared to him, it looks like a scientific instrument. Everything is smooth and solid and the ED glass makes it possible to read text at extreme distances where my previous scope could never get sharp edges. When looking at branches with a light background, the color fringes are not noticeable. The stars don't look like a red-green pair. I wasn't able to compare this pair to other top brands because nobody near me stocks them, so I took a chance and bought them unnoticed after not dropping them. in love with others. What helped me decide was that I went through a similar process of comparing brands of binoculars side by side and ended up with the Monarch 7s. In general, there were many little things that didn't make me fall in love. I like other scopes in this +-$500 price range. Ergonomics: I didn't like the small focusing wheel on my previous scope and wanted a barrel adjuster. A minor thing, but how you turn the focus wheel to move the plane of focus in or out differs between brands and thankfully it lives up to the Monarch 7 in that aspect. Build Quality: Surprisingly, some scopes in this range still seem cheap be and weren't. t give me confidence that they would last. I wasn't disappointed at all! Image Quality: It's difficult to check this for things like chromatic aberration at most sporting goods stores, but most have a sign or something on the other side of the store to play with. They were all able to achieve sharp edges with some focus adjustments in the store settings. Every time I change the zoom. Again, it's surprising that not everyone has such a "feature". This one does. Now all I have to do is upgrade my ball mount to liquid so it can hold a non-level, balanced position when I add my camera. This is also my first attempt at digiscoping as I couldn't find an adapter for my newest telescope other than a phone adapter, but the first results are promising. The straight one I had before was terrible for that. Very happy with the oblique view, although finding the target is a bit more difficult. Overall I am very happy with my purchase. A huge improvement over my previous scope and I see so many things that I used to miss. Separate feathers around a bird's eye, the bands of Jupiter and its moons distinct, the rings of Saturn distinct. My mind was overwhelmed.
