UPDATE 6/12/2019. I'm reassigning my original 5 star rating as I work with Julia from Cloner Alliance Support. I was able to resolve an audio sync issue I had with recorded video. in my video editing software. It turns out that the HDML-Cloner Box Pro doesn't work well with my Samsung 850 Pro (or SanDisk) SSDs, which I use for my recordings, with no issues with my AVerMedia EZRecorder - I've had trouble playing audio with the 250- Sync GB drive 32GB and 512GB drives did not work at all (received "Scanning storage deviceβ message). I must give credit and gratitude to Julia and the Cloner-Alliance support team for their incredible determination to investigate and resolve this issue. The amount of time and effort they put into solving a problem is completely unrealistic, which is sorely lacking in most companies today. On Julia's recommendation I tried 4 different USB drives and the recordings on all 4 drives worked fine in Adobe Premiere and my other video editing software. I've also tried Samsung and SanDisk SSDs and couldn't write to the 32GB and 512GB drives while I still had issues with the 250GB drive. I will only use large flash drives with HDML-Cloner Box Pro. All in all I would highly recommend this recorder again as it does its job perfectly and has great support. UPDATE 12/28/2018 - I had to downgrade my rating for this recorder from 5 to 3 stars because I was having trouble editing recorded video files in various software editors like Premiere, Vegas, Nero Video, Corel Video Studio, CyberLink PowerDirector and Pinnacle- Studio. When I managed to load the file into the editor timeline - I couldn't load the file in some editors (got a file format error), none of them displayed any of the recorded video files properly - the voices were out of sync; a lot of. I can no longer recommend this recorder because of this problem. I contacted ClonerAlliance technical support and due to the peculiarities of mp4 file formats I was advised to download a free software called "MP4-Cloner" which would allow me to convert the file to a usable format. Converting each file and then using editing software to make edits and view the final file takes too long so I gave up and bought the AVerMedia EZRecorder ER130 (available from Revain) which produces great recordings edited with any editor can without having to convert the file first. ORIGINAL REVIEW: This is definitely the HDMI recorder to get, period. It's extremely easy to use, comes with a detailed full color user manual in excellent English, and the customer support is phenomenal. It allows you to schedule your recordings as well as the playback of your recordings and also allows you to play images, audio and video in different file formats. The only limitation I had was a 2GB write limit where a 1 hour recording would be split into multiple 2GB files, which was fixed when they provided a firmware update yesterday - I got it on Asked about it Monday night and they reported Tuesday morning this will be released later this week and will of course be available on Thursday. Well this is customer service as it should be - they are quick to respond and care about their customers. Installing the firmware took a few minutes and the 2GB size limit is gone - my 1 hour video is now a single 7GB file. IMPORTANT: Before proceeding with the firmware update, I strongly recommend formatting the USB flash drive to NTFS, then copying the firmware update file to it and proceeding with the firmware update. Everyone. Not only can you record in 720 or 1080 format, but you can also set the recording resolution to low, medium, or high. There are also advanced settings for aspect ratio, output display, and sound. You can record to a USB stick or your PC, but note that PC recording requires the installation and registration of the appropriate software; If you do not register the software, you are limited to 10 minutes of recorded video. VERY IMPORTANT TIP: Make sure the USB stick is connected to the device BEFORE turning on the device. This way you can play your recordings. . If you connect a USB storage device after turning on the device, recording is possible but video playback is not possible. I found this out the hard way trying to figure out what was wrong. The device comes with a practical and easy-to-use remote control. It offers a full range of options including turning the box on and off (other devices I've used stay on all the time). You can take screenshots, start and stop recording, change input and recording resolution, schedule recordings, and most importantly, play back your videos. I would highly recommend this little device - it's fantastic value for money considering all its features. . Yes, it costs more than some other devices, but the features, build, quality, and customer service of this device are second to none. It's a handy HDMI recorder that delivers great recordings and lots of options. With the new firmware, which can be downloaded and installed in minutes, limiting the recording size is not a problem. FYI I purchased this unit at FULL PRICE - I did not receive any rebate or compensation for this review. I see too many 5 star reviews for crappy products - this is not one of them. If you have any questions or want me to test something, let me know and I'll get back to you.
