Suitable for laptop office desk layout. The presence of an SD card and micro SD card slot was the only reason I bought this for my desktop PC. Advantages: 1. Multiple card readers.2. 3 USB 3.0.3 ports. Works very well with Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Cons: 1. The cable is short, it cannot be disconnected/replaced without an extension cable (USB 3.0 male-female extension cable). This should be fine if you only want to use it with a Macbook or other laptop, but things can get a bit tricky if you have a desktop setup. The USB ports are oriented upside down for some odd reason. (actually this is not a shortcoming, but a small annoyance that you have to get used to).3. Unreliable USB 3.0 connectivity supports external hard drives, especially 1TB or larger. Most of the time it works, but sometimes it can't recognize the external hard drive at all. When I plug the external drive directly into the PC's USB ports, it works fine. I'm not sure if the problems are sometimes due to power consumption or something else. I've tried this with all 4 ports on my PC and the results are very similar.
