We have a new French door style fridge with an ice maker in the door. The entire ice machine is in the door, not just the dispenser. The cubes are much smaller than the standard ice maker you'll find in other refrigerators, and because it's in the door, the ice bin is small. One member of our family loves crushed ice, uses a giant mug and dumps the whole basket in. . The ice machine takes more than 24 hours to fill the bin. I used a standard ice tray but could only fill it halfway otherwise the ice cubes would be too big for the crusher. These ice cream bowls were just what I needed. The cubes are a bit smaller than what the ice maker produces, so I'm not worried about damaging the crusher. There are only two downsides. First, the ice tray is a bit soft. Allows easy twisting to pop out the dice. But if you only hold one end when full, it can sag and spill water. Only happens if I fill the tray too high or don't look closely and tilt my hand too far. The second problem is that it's smaller than a regular ice cream tray. I made up for it by buying four more trays. The only warning is to look at the price. I saw it go up to $14. I got it for about $4.50.
